Here is a practical example of a production site. Some details have been altered to protect the client’s anonymity.
The “ARA” (Wastewater treatment plant, Abwasserreinigungsanlage) is monitored in real time. Not only are temperatures and flow rates monitored, but the lighting, valves and pumps are also controlled remotely.
There are locks available that allow an “under maintenance” sign to be attached to any piece of equipment to inform remote operators that it is currently out of service:

Other views, designed for different purposes, can be set up for the same installation; in this example, to measure how long the devices have been in use, so as to trigger minor and major maintenance alerts after a fixed number of operating hours or a fixed number of activations:
