Others do not provide the server source code, so users must <strong>trust<\/strong> the service operator regarding what actually happens within the server (recording, re-encryption, etc.).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most alternative systems only use <strong>link encryption<\/strong>. This means that one encryption key is used between the caller and the service provider, and another key between the provider and the data recipient. This is why most <strong>alternative platforms do not offer end-to-end encryption<\/strong> for this type of exchange (without explicitly stating so).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, the source code is fully available under an <a href=\"https:\/\/abilit.eu\/index.php\/free-software-freeware-freesoftware-public-domain-and-shareware\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"380\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">OpenSource<\/a> licence, <strong>including the server part<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em><strong>Download<\/strong><\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><a href=\"https:\/\/signal.org\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/signal.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Signal Messenger web site<\/a> redirects on GooglePlay for installation on Android.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">However, this requires a Google account, and using a Google account on an Android\/Linux phone <strong>automatically links that account to the phone<\/strong> and <strong>triggers all of Google&#8217;s \u00ab telemetry \u00bb (spying) features<\/strong>, such as \u00ab protecting your privacy \u00bb by copying your data to the Cloud (for your \u00ab security \u00bb), \u00ab saving your passwords \u00bb on their servers (including banking app credentials), etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full has-custom-border\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"474\" height=\"355\" src=\"https:\/\/abilit.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-11.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-649\" style=\"border-width:1px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/abilit.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-11.png 474w, https:\/\/abilit.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-11-300x225.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 474px) 100vw, 474px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">As this is obviously unacceptable and completely incompatible with security and confidentiality, the Signal Messenger website provides another way to install the Signal client for Android\/Linux:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left has-base-2-background-color has-background\" style=\"border-width:1px;padding-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--10);padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--10);padding-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--10);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--10)\"><em>\u00ab To install the Signal messaging app without signing in to the Google Play Store, use your own browser and navigate to <\/em><br><em><a href=\"https:\/\/signal.org\/android\/apk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\"><strong>https:\/\/signal.org\/android\/apk<\/strong><\/a> \u00bb<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you have done this, you need to install the <strong>apk file<\/strong> (you may need to grant certain permissions, as Google tries to make installing alternative software <strong>as difficult as possible<\/strong>), then follow the installation template.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For installations on GNU\/Linux or other platforms, please follow the Signal Messenger download page: https:\/\/signal.org\/download Why Signal ?
